DEBUTANTES PRESENTED

VICE-REGAL BALL. There were over 300 guests at the ball given by Their Excellencies, the Gov-ernor-General and Lady. .Bledisloe, at Government House, Wellington, on Friday evening, when 24 debutantes attended, states a Wellington exchange. The long ballroom wax decorated with the hothouse flowers that thrive so wonderfully in the Government House conservatories. Cyclamen in pink and white banked against the white walls ’ accentuated the pink of the brocaded curtains. Cinerarias showed blue and mauve beside the dais, where delicate greenery masked the chandeliers and the wall behind the blue brocaded chairs. It-was an exquisite setting for the many debutantes, whg passed in a procession -before Their Excellencies.

The debutantes, announced by Lieutenant Rodney Thomson, entered one by one with the ladies who presented them, made their curtsies, and took their places on the other side, of the room. The crowded ballroom waited in silence while the dignified ceremony proceeded, breaking into a hum of talk when the last presentation was over.
