THREE SHOPS GUTTED

BIG FIRE AT OPOTIKI. BLAZE IN CENTRE OF TOWN. By Telegraph—Press Association. Opotiki, September 26. At 4 o’clock this morning three shops in the centre of the town were gutted by fire and the contents destroyed. An adjoining shop was damaged and its contents ruined. The origin of the fire is unknown.

The occupiers of the shops were Mrs. Patterson,' Auld and Co., G. Dawson and a Chinese. The owner was Mr. W. Oakes.
