MANGATOKI NEWS

A successful progressive euchre evening was held in the Mangatoki Hall on Wednesday under the arrangements of an Eltham committee in support of the hockey candidate (Miss R. Townsend) for the Eltham queen carnival. Notwithstanding the storm there were over 60 players. Mr. T. Taylor had charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Glentworth won first prize, with Mrs. C. V/. Carlson second. The men's first prize was won by Mr. C. W. Carlson, and in the re-play with Messrs. McGlone and McDonald, Mr. Cecil Marx won second prize. A dance in support of the prosperity candidate has been arranged. The heavy rain followed by warm weather has benefited the pastures, considerably stimulating spring growth. An effort is being made to form a cricket club at Mangatoki. A meeting is being convened at an early date.
