TIKORANGI DISTRICT NEWS
Tennis and General. The Tikorangi Sports Club held a Yankee tennis tournament at the school courts on Saturday. Those taking part were Misses Dora Metcalf, Doris Jupp, Audrey Beaven, Joyce Yearbury, Joyce Morey and Peggy Beaven, Messrs. Dennis Allen (Waitara), John Hills, Gill Beaven, Malcolm Sarten, Cliff Allen (Waitara), Doug. Hills, Fred Hunter, Stan McCan, Alwyn Metcalf and George Jupp. The order in which the players were at the conclusion of the tournament governs the ladder ranking order- for the coming tennis season. The first group meeting of North Taranaki Women’s Institutes which comprises the Tikorangi, Motonui, Waitara and Huirangi Institutes, is to be held in Waitara on October 9. Mrs. E. Kelso, Dominion organiser of the New Zealand Women’s Institutes, will preside. Mr. and Mrs. C. Sarten and Mrs. A. Jupp visited Wanganui for the races.
