EFFECT ON EUROPE
GOOD SYDNEY WOOL PRICES. MAINTENANCE INDICATED. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—CopyrightLondon, Sept. 3. Mr. W. P. Devereux, Australian Wool Growers’ Council representative, reports that the strong opening of the Sydney wool sales strengthened the European markets. Quotations in all centres advanced to a corresponding level, while indications of the maintenance of values are favourable. Some business was done in merino tops, but rather more business in' fine and medium crossbreds. There was increased business in crossbred yarns, prices moving against buyers. The demand for uniform cloths stimulated internal trade, but export is slow, while the trade with France and Belgium is quiet generally. Continental futures markets advanced 5 to 10 per cent. Transactions are not heavy.
