Mr. K. C..Akers, Wellington, is visiting New Plymouth. Lieutenant-Commander Haddon cf H.M.S. Canberra, flagship of the Australian Division of the Royal Navy now at Auckland, is visiting New Plymouth, Chief Judge N. R. Rolleston, Te Kuiti, and Major R. A. Wilson, Bulls, members of the No. 5 district transport licensing authority, and Mr. C. A. Turner, the secretary, are staying at the White Hart Hotel, New Plymouth. At the conclusion of the meeting cf the New Plymouth Debating Society last night the chairman (Mr. R. J. Brokenshire) offered, his congratulations to Mr. G. L. Wells, a foundation member, who is leaving the literary staff of the Taranaki Herald to join the sub-editorial staff of the Dominion, Wellington. Other speakers included Messrs. W. C. Weston (president of the society), H. L. Gamer (secretary) and R. Day.
