The weather will be fair to fine generally at first except for some showers in the extreme south, but. unsettled and showery weather will gradually extend northward along western districts. Temperatures will be mild. A belt of high pressure still extends from Norfolk Island across New Zealand to Chatham Islands, while a rather deep westerly depression covers the western Tasman Sea. Winds will be variable at first, with light to moderate south-westerlies prevailing except in the far south, but the winds will gradually veer through the west to north-west become strong about and south of Cook Strait. Seas will be smooth to moderate.
