PETER PAN BECOMES SORE
RACING CIRCLES PERTURBED. NEW ZEALANDERS AT SYDNEY. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 10 p.m. Sydney, Sept. 1. Racing circles are perturbed over adverse reports regarding Peter Pan, last year's Melbourne Cup winner, who has developed, muscle soreness. The owner, Mr. R. Danger, was hitherto hopeful of again capturing the cup. He admitted to-day that it might be necessary to relieve Peter Pan of forthcoming important engagements, and if he does not show an improvement his preparation will not be persevered with. Peter Pan galloped very poorly yesterday. The New Zealanders Autopay, Silver Scorn, Dole and Golden Hair are engaged in to-morrow’s Canterbury Stakes, six furlongs, with the champion Chatham heading the weights. EGMONT RACING CLUB. SUB-COMMITTEES APPOINTED. The monthly meeting of the Egmont Racing Club general committee at Hawera yesterday appointed the following sub-committees: Executive and finance, Messrs. S. C. Tonks, S. Adamson, W. O. Williams, G. H. Ryan and F. W. Sutton; course, Messrs. Tonks and Wil-
liams; programme, Messrs. J. Gray, H. Spratt, Williams, H. I. Crocker, W. Me L’Dowie and A. Good; licensing, Messrs. Gray, Good, Williams and R. Hicks; catering, Messrs. Gray, Adamson, McL’ Dowie and S. Gibson; steeplechase, Messrs. Good, Crocker and McL’Dowie. It was decided to hold a general meeting of members next month, when a motion, of which notice has been given, in connection with the entrance fee for new members will be considered. The course committee reported that the tracks were in good order and that the local trainers were making full use of them. The club’s livestock was doing well.
