CANTERBURY PRODUCE PRICES. POTATO MARKET AGAIN EASIER. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The potato market has eased further during the week and values to-day were down to £3 5s a ton f.o.b. sacks in, for prompts, equal to £2 5s on trucks. Septembers are quoted at £3 10s f.o.b. sacks in. The Waimarino sailed in the midweek with a cargo of 5500 sacks from both ports. So few potatoes are wanted in the north that this quantity is likely to keep traders off the market in the meantime. It is thought that southern potatoes will be wanted later than usual on account of frosts in the Auckland crops, but on the season’s experience so far the quantity cannot be large. Fowl feed IS quoted at up to 3s 5d a bushel f.o.b. hacks extra, but from 3s 6d to 3s 6£d is quoted for better than grade. The market for partridge peas is weaker, values to farmers being 3s 6d a bushel on trucks. The oats and chaff markets are lifeless. Grade A Gartons are quoted nominally- at 2s 4d to 2s 5d at Lyttelton. A final increment of a halfpenny a bushel attaches to milling wheat for this month. The prices to farmers now are Tuscan 3s 9d, Hunters 3s lid, Pearl 4s Id, all f.o.b.
