VANDALISM IN NATIVE BUSH WAITEMATA COUNCIL’S STAND. POLICE TO PROTECT POHUTUKAWA. CHARGE AGAINST MOTOR PARTY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Drastic action will be taken against all persons found destroying or damaging native bush in the Waitemata County Council’s area, particularly on the foreshore of Manukau harbour. Police action has been secured to deal with the destruction of pohutukawas, a party of motorists alleged to have removed pohutukawas and fems will be prosecuted and instant dismissal awaits any county employee who becomes implicated in vandalism or in the destruction of bush from private properties.

The chairman of the council said at the meeting to-day that 58 limbs and roots had been cut from fifteen pohutukawa trees and it was alleged by settlers that timber had been removed from their properties and sent by truck to Auckland.
