MOMENTOUS AGREEMENT

LIMIT ON WHEAT EXPORT QUOTAS GIVEN COUNTRIES SETTLEMENT TO NEXT JULY COMMITTEE TO NEGOTIATE By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 10 p.m. Washington, Aug. 30. Mr. Henry Wallace, Secretary for Agriculture, said on Wednesday night that the international wheat agreement approved at London will limit exports from Canada to 200,000,000 bushels, from the United States to 47,000,000 bushels, from Argentina to 110,000,000, and from Australia to 160,000,000 bushels up to July 1 next year. Mr. Wallace hailed the agreement as a momentous achievement. He said no agreement had been reached as to production on quotas after 1934, but that would be negotiated later through the advisory committee. He stated that the agreement set the Australian exports during the 1933-34 and 1934-35 season combined at 255,000,000 bushels.

ADDITIONAL DOCUMENT SIGNED. NO FINALITY WITH RUSSIA. Buenos Aires, Aug. 29. The Minister of Agriculture, Senor De Pineda, on Tuesday night cabled instructing the Argentine delegate, Senor Lebreton, at London to sign the international wheat agreement, which was done later. Besides signing the main agreement Argentina signed an additional document, to which Australia, Canada and America also .subscribed. The details have not been disclosed, but the signing is understood to involve no change in Australia’s total allocation or the quotas for 1933-34 and 1934-35. Consultations continued with' the Russians without finality.

A Winnipeg message states that Mr. Sanford Evans, the crop statistician, estimated the wheat crop for Western Canada at 268,000,000.
