DECREASE IN CUSTOMS
NEW PLYMOUTH AUGUST RETURN. COMPARISONS WITH LAST YEAR. The comparitively heavy decrease of £1682 is revealed in the New Plymouth Customs returns for August when compared with those for the same month of 1932. In July the decrease was £675 and in June £1523. The total decrease on the seven months of this year compared with the same period of 1932 is £3892. . '■ ... The details are:—
Decrease for month £1682 15s Decrease to date £3892 5s 2d. A smaller decrease than in July is shown in the figures for the collection of excise duty when compared with August of 1932. The decrease last month was £129, compared with a decrease of £l9B in July and a slight increase in June. Details are:—
Decrease for month £129 Is Gd. ; Decrease to date £605 9s 6d. ;■ Petrol tax receipts have again fallen, the figures for August showing the decided drop of £lOB2 when compared with the figures for August, 1932.
Decrease for month £lOB2 8s 6d. Decrease to date £3607 16s Od. Sales tax collected in August amounted to £1846, compared with £1721 in July, £lB4l in June, £1905 in May, £2189 in ■ r.. April and £522 in March, the first month the tax was payable. ' , '•X\'
