FRYER AND LUSK IN FINAL. HIGH STANDARD OF MATCHES. By Telegraph—Press Association. Rotorua, Last Night. The Rotorua Golf Club’s open charm pionship tournament, which opened on Tuesday, has reached the semi-final stages. Fryer (Napier) and Lusk (Auckland) will meet in the final of the championship on Friday morning. The weather has been ideal and the course in exceptionally good order. In the championship quarter-finals Lusk beat Rainger 5 and 4, Fryer beat Bruce Jenkins 2 and 1, A. B. BarnsGraham beat Davies 2 and 1, and Moore beat Dodgshun 5 and 4. In the semifinals Lusk beat Bams-Graham 5 and 4 and Fryer beat Moore 2 up. In the Thermal Cup quarter-finals Greenbank beat Fuller on the 20th green, R. C. Smith, beat. Wilson 3 and 2, W. B. Lusk beat Tricker 2 and 1, and Amon beat Rodden 6-and 4. In the semifinals Greenbank beat Smith 2 and 1 and Amon beat Lusk on the 19th. Lusk played unbeatable golf in the morning to defeat Rainger coming home on 34, and completing the round in 70. The fortunes of M. Moore, the youthful Wellington scratch man, were closely followed, as on form he looked one of the strongest contenders for the championship. After defeating Dodgshun 5 and 4 in the morning, however, he went down to Fryer in the afternoon after one of the best matches seen on the Rotorua course. Moore’s game sagged somewhat in the middle of the match, but he recovered brilliantly and only par play by Fryer stalled him off. The two finalists, Lusk and Fryer, played outstanding golf to-day, and the general standard throughout the tournament has been exceptionally high. A foursome medal was won by Carver and J. S. Bams-Graham with a gross 71.
