In a fast and exciting game of fluctuating fortunes the Wairarapa Rugby representatives to-day defeated Otago by 19 to 17. The standard of play was fairly high throughout. The element of suspense as to the outcome i gripped the cheering crowd. In the final stages of both spells the complexion of the game changed with remarkable suddenness, providing many bright and thrilling incidents. The two teams were evenly matched. Otago impressed as the more polished combination. The half-time score was eight-all. The scorers for Wairarapa were Hemi, Smith and Stringfellow (two tries being converted by Hemi, who also kicked two penalty goals) and for Otago McSkimming (two), Alien and Hamilton, one try being converted by Allen, who also kicked a penalty goaL
