DOCTOR’S SON IN TROUBLE

BANK HOLD-UP ECHO. CRIMES IN MASTERTON. Masterton, Aug. 29. William Munn Macdonald, aged 19 years, son of a Wellington doctor,, and who was concerned in the recent Palmerston North, bank hold-up, appeared before Mr. J. Miller, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court this morning on seven charges of offences alleged to have been committed in Masterton by accused between May 29 and August 10. One charge was of breaking and entering by night the dwelling house of Dr. Archer- Hosking and stealing therefrom one safety razor, a fountain pen, unemployment and postage stamps and cheque forms, of a total value of £3 19s. There were two charges of alleged forgery of cheques to the amount of £3O each, two charges of attempting to cause the same to be acted upon as genuine, one of presenting a valueless cheque and obtaining by means of same goods to the value of Is 6d and £1 8s 6d in money, and a charge of unlawfully entering the dwelling house of Michael Doyle at Manaia Road by night with intent to commit a crime.

Accused was not represented by counsel, but during the hearing of evidence he interrogated witnesses. Accused admitted the charges after having heard the evidence, and was committed to the Supreme Court at Wellington for sentence.
