STOWAWAY PUNISHED
PLEA or destitution made. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Aug. 18. Clive Neville Watts, aged 23, of Auckland, was convicted to-day and ordered to come up within 12 months for sentence if called upon for stowing away O n the Mataroa. He pleaded that he was destitute there and had tried to get a post to work his passage out. ’ He had stowed away rather than be deported as a criminal.
