NEW POLITICAL PARTY
FORMATION AT SYDNEY.
AIMS AT TARIFF REDUCTION.
By. Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.
Sydney, Aug. 16.
The Sydney Morning Herald says that a new political organisation known as the Consumers’ Tariff Reduction League will be launched in Sydney in the next few days. Its main object will be to secure tariff reduction and reforms in trade and production restrictions. A specific demand will be made for the immediate reduction of existing tariffs to the level of the 1931-30 tariffs, and the elimination of protective duties on goods the manufacture of which in Australia is uneconomic. The principles of the Ottawa agreement will be endorsed. It is intended, unless its aims are achieved, to submit candidates at the next Federal elections.
