Sydney, August 16.
The Blue Star Line has practically completed arrangements for the immediate inauguration of a service between New Zealand and the United Kingdom, and it is understood that this circumstance prevents the company negotiating further with Australian shippers at the present time.
DEFINITE DECISION MADE.
FREIGHT CONTRACTS COMPLETED.
By Telegraph—Press Association.
Wellington, Last Night.
It is definitely stated at Wellington that the Blue Star Line will shortly enter the New Zealand trade. New freight contracts for the carriage of frozen, meat, dairy produce and fruit from New Zealand to the United Kingdom have been arranged in London, but no official statement is yet available regarding the rates of freight and other terms. It is believed in some quarters that the statement is being withheld until the Australian freight contracts have been arranged. In the meantime it is generally understood that the Blue Star Line has been included in the New Zealand freight contracts and that ships of the company will enter trade between the Dominion and Britain very shortly.
