£25,000 LOAN TO BE CONVERTED.

The financial report submitted to the Kaponga Town Board for the four months ended July 31 showed receipts for the period to be slightly less than at the same period last year, while the expenditure was approximately £lOO less.

The question of converting the board’s loans was fully discussed and arrangements were made to convert £25,100 at a satisfactory figure.

The following rates were struck for the year ending March 31, 1934: General rate, IJd. in the £1 on capital value; street lighting rate, one-eighth of a penny; water and drainage rate, seveneighths of a penny; special town district rate, three-eighths of a penny; electricity rate, three-quarters of a penny; extra water rates, estimated to produce £92. The rates struck for the coming year represent a reduction of id. on those struck for the present year.

As a ratepayer had lodged an objection to the existing town district valuations it was decided to instruct the clerk to communicate with the Valuer-General with a view to ascertaining whether it would be possible to have a revaluation of the district made .at the same time as the proposed revaluations of. tire Eltham, Hawera and Waimate counties.
