SCHOOL COMMITTEE EUCHRE, . Tire Korito school committee held its fortnightly euchre party and dance on Friday evening. There were 10 tables occupied at euchre. Tire winners were Miss Vera Smith 1 and Mis. A. Muller 2, and Messrs. V. Hine 1 and B. Herbert 2. Miss W. Snell played for the dancing. Mr R. Weston was master of ceremonies. The Monte Carlo dance was won by Mr. and Mrs. B. Herbert Miss Dempster, New Plymouth, who has been the guest of Mrs. J. Kemp, has returned home. Ladies’ Guild Activity.

The annual meeting ol the Kent RoadKorito ladies’ sewing guild was held at Mrs. Mace’s home. Tire balance sheet showed assets of £5 4s, with no liabilities. During the year funds were raised by holding a social at Korito school, friends from New Plymouth assisting with the programme. A mart was held in New Plymouth, the guild combining with the district nurse association and with the District Nurse Association and sharing the profits. Since count was taken of the new articles sent to the District Nurse, 54 girls garments, 20 boys’ garments, two womens garments,

three pillows, and two pillow-cases have been supplied, as well as five dozen home-made toys for distribution at Christmas time. The guild had found the people, both in town and in the, country, always willing and anxious to assist in the work. Special mention was made of the great assistance given by Mrs. Balsom, who, in addition to acting as machinist during the meetings, in-1

creased the output by additional work. Reference was made to the approaching marriage of Miss A. Peters, who had been an energetic worker. The secretary was asked to write conveying the good wishes of the guild for her future happiness. Votes of thanks were passed to Mrs. Parker for the use of her home for the meetings throughout the year, to Mrs. Mace for the use of her home

for the annual meeting and to Mr. Kemp for auditing the books. The office-bearers elected for the ensuing year were: President, Mrs. Parker; vice-presidents, Mesdames Mace and Plummer; treasurer and secretary, Mrs. Kemp; executive committee, Mesdames Weston, Ekdahl, Fabish, Parker and Kemp.
