FAREWELL TO A FIREMAN. Members of the Inglewood Volunteer Fire Brigade gathered on Monday evening to farewell Foreman-R. Evetts, who has been transferred to Waipukurau. On behalf of the brigade Superintendent Crossman said that all very much regretted losing such a keen fireman as Foreman Evetts, but as the change was in his own interests he congratulated him and hoped that he would later be transferred back to Inglewood. Superintendent Crossman made a presentation to Mr. Evetts on behalf of the brigade. In reply Mr. Evetts said his four and a-half. years’ association with the Inglewood brigade had been very pleasant and he. keenly regretted leaving,, but he Would continue to take an interest in brigade work, for by being a member of a fire brigade one could feel that one was being of some help to the community. Mr. Evetts will leave to take up his appointment at Waipukurau on August 21. Ladies’ Golf Matches.

The Inglewood Ladies’ Golf Club challenged Stratford, the holders, for the Taplin Cup and in the match played at Stratford on Tuesday was defeated by the holders by three games to one, while two matches were all square.
