The official paper Wiener Zeitung confirms the report that the German Nazis are preparing a fresh offensive against Austria. A Nazi conference has been held at Venice for this purpose. It is stated Herr Hitler is determined to see National-Socialism established in Austria. 1 . The fears of the Austrian authorities are reflected in the instructions given to the police to arrest the Prince of Saxe-Menningen on a charge of high treason based on his alleged attendance of secret meetings of Nazis on the Italian side of the frontier. Germany is expelling Austrian miners from Westphalia and Austria is expelling an, fw»uival;ent number of Germans. BRITISH LABOUR’S PROTEST ADVOCACY OF BOYCOTT NAZIS PLAN FAKED FILM Rec. 7 p.m. London, July 18. The national joint council of the Trades Union Congress, the Labour Party and the Parliamentary Labour Party has issued a manifesto urging British people to boycott German goods and services. “Against Herr Hitler’s rule ordinary methods of protest have failed,” the manifesto states. “Insensate tyranny must be fought with other weapons. We do not hold the German people guilty and cannot believe they are aware of the manner in which the present Government has alienated international sympathy and goodwill.” Herr Ernst Thaehnann, imprisoned Communist leader, will be forced to play the role of villian in a film entitled "Horstwessel,” depicting the growth’ of the Nazi movement, the Daily Herald says. Herr Thaehnann will be photographed in prison and extracts from his speeches will be afterwards synchronised with the film. In order to blacken Communists as much as possible Herr Thaelmann will be obliged to depict lighting a fire; this scene will be grafted onto the film of the burning Reichstag, creating the impression that Herr Thaehnann was ■ responsible for that outrage, which the Herald attributes to Nazis under Captain Goering’s orders. An inspired Press announcement at Berlin says German citizenship will be made dependent on membership of some Nazi organisation or Nazi Party trade union at present closed to = new members. The Prussian Ministry of the Interior has sanctioned the reintroduction in official municipal buildings of pictures, busts and statues of the ex-Kaiser and other Hohenzollems, which former Governments banned.
