FINE, COLD WEATHER

MODERATE EASTERLY WIND. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The weather will be fair to fine and cold. A slight anti-cyclone covers New Zealand, being centred east of the South Island. A westerly depression is located over south-eastern Australia and a cyclone is centred in the north Tasman Sea. Winds will be variable, tending to north-easterly from Auckland northwards and with north-easterlies prevailing south of Canterbury. Elsewhere there will be south to east winds, strong at first about Cook Strait but otherwise light to moderate. Seas will be smooth to moderate except on the east coast
