HOCKEY FOR NORDON CUP

WAIPA TO PLAY TARANAKI. As a curtain-raiser to the . representative hockey match between Taranaki and Waipa at Waitara to-day a game is to be played between two ladies’ teams representing New Plymouth and Waitara. The following team has been selected to play for New Plymouth:— Mesdames Cummings, Barron, Foster, Berry, Stanton, Montgomerie, Jones, Hutchison, Misses Brough and Clow (2). The representative teams to play for the Nordon Cup are:— TARANAKI. . Goal: A. Bennett. Full-backs: Ryan, Thompson. Half-backs: Duncan, L. Page, V. Betts. Forwards: S. Betts, G. Surgenor, Rev. J. Watson, R. Irwin, K. Pennington. Emergencies: Forward, Windell; half, Brough; full-back, Pitcher. WAIPA. Goal: J. Spiers. Full-backs: R. Hinton, L. Spiers. r Half-backs: N. Spiers, O. Finch, L. Mackey. ' Forwards: E. Richardson, L. Carl, B. Spiers, G. Wood, G. Fincri. Emergencies: T. Finch and P. Barry. . The referees will be the Rev. J. A. Ryburn and Mr. H. E. Watts., On his arrival at Waitara Mr. C. Davis, manager of the Waipa team, stated that the team was practically. the same as that which visited Taranaki last year. The forwards wdre fully up to last year’s form. Six of the team represented Waikato a fortnight ago in a challenge match for the New Zealand Challenge Shield.
