MOKAU DISTRICT NEWS
EUCHRE TOURNAMENT. . The euchre tournament was continued in the Mokau schoolroom on Thursday night. There was an increased attendance. The prizes were won by Mrs. Sullivan and Mr. R. Whitehead. Supper was served by Mrs. F. Widt. The Mokau River Canine Club held a dance in the Mokau hall on Friday evening to raise funds. A party of the Mokau River residents journeyed to Mokau by launch. There was an attendance of 30 couples. Music was supplied by Mrs. N. Taylor. Extras were played by Miss I. Hansen. A balloon dance caused spirited competition. The winners were Miss P. Pratt, Mokau, and Mr, M. Willscroft. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mrs. Waite, Mokau, and Mr. McKenzie. Supper was provided by members. Messrs. R. Randell and C. Sampson were masters of ceremonies. I ; An informal meeting of Mokau members of the Awakino Bowling Club was held at Mokau on Saturday evening, when it was decided to hold a dance in the Mokau hall shortly. A man’s bicycle, the property of a local resident, removed from outside the Tainui Private Hotel on Thursday, was recovered the following morning in a clump of gorse on the main road.
