WESTOWN SCHOOL AFFAIRS
MEETING ,OF THE COMMITTEE. ATTENDANCES WELL MAINTAINED. The Westown School Committee met last night, Mr. T.' Aylward presiding. Others present were Messrs. G. W. Turnbull, R. Gredig, D. C. Potts, V. C. Davies, F. N. Marsden, J. M. Poynter, E. Deacon (acting secretary), A. Gilbert (headmaster) and L. Hedges (scoutmaster). Mr. Davies was again appointed grounds supervisor and Mr. Potts his assistant. The acting-headmaster ' reported that three children had been admitted and two withdrawn during the month, the present roll being 251. The average for the month was 243.6. An attractive attendance banner for competition among the classes had been provided by Miss Simpson. Cocoa and hot milk were still being supplied to 30 children. Receipts from the bottles collected by the children amounted to £5 6s Bd. The picture programme supplied by Mr. Andrews realised £1 5s 9d. Thanks were due to the committee for supplying the electric clock. Mr. Poynter said the attendances were keeping up well for this time of the year. Several matters in connection with the grounds required attention, reported Mr. Davies. Mr. Marsden • reported on the activities of the ways and means sub-commit-tee and the idea of a series of evenings to be arranged privately by committee members was approved.
