BRIGHT BOXING AT PATEA
EXCELLENT BOUTS BY AMATEURS. SECOND TOURNAMENT SUCCESS. The second tournament of the season was presented by the Pa tea Boxing Association at the Patea Town Hall last night. A good crowd was entertained with a bright programme that moved along swiftly under the direction of the secretary, Mr. T. J. Scott. Mr. F. Naismith made the introductions and Mr. R. W. Haddow refereed. The details are:— Green (Wanganui) 10.4 beat B. Anderton (Patea) 10.7.
Reed (Eltham) 10.9 beat W. Brosnan (Patea) 10.6. Dwyer (Patea) 9.6 beat Page (Otakeho) 9.6. Gordon (Patea) 5.4 beat Hussey (Wanganui) 5.2. Hamblyn (Patea) 10.2 beat Swallow (Wanganui) 9.8. Hutchens (Eltham) 10.10 beat Burke (Wanganui) 10.6. ' Denham (Wanganui) 9.1 beat Werata (Patea) 9.11. Moffitt (Wanganui) 11.2 beat V. Brosnan (Patea) 11.10. Whatnough (Wanganui) 9.1 beat Nicholls (Otakeho) 8.11. Walker (Patea) 11.5 beat Dawson (Wanganui) 12.7. Quinlan (Wanganui) 11.8 drew with Pownall (Wanganui) 11.5. An exhibition bout was given by the diminutive Gordon brothers. The trophies were presented by the Mayor, Mr. F. Ramsbottom.
