MOUNT EDEN RATE COLLECTION. HUNDRED APPICATIONS MADE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, July 12. Over 30 solicitors, many of wk»m were also barristers, were among the more than 100 applicants to the Mount Eden Borough Council for the post of assistant rate collector at £5 a week. Legal knowledge was required. Applicants wrote from all over the Dominion and the ages ranged from 19 to 75. One said that he know all there was to know about law but had had no experience and another that he considered that only commensense was required and he had plenty of that. A barrister and solicitor was appointed.
