SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Urenui school committee was held on Tuesday night, when Mr. C. Henwood presided over a full attendance. The head teacher reported that the roll number remained at 67. The average attendance was boys 31.7 and girls 31.6, making an average for the school of 63.3. • Sickness had affected the attendance to a certain extent. Two children were absent the whole month and others for shorter periods. The cocoa fund was progressing very satisfactorily. That day the school was lent a wireless set to

listen in to the broadcast educational lesson from IYA. Relief workers commenced working on the school grounds on Monday last. The lawsoniana hedge along the boundary had been cleaned, and the gorse grubbed out of the older portion of the hedge. The hedge at one end of the lawn had been removed, and everything was in readiness for moving the fence. The supply of wood was becoming low, and the headmaster suggested cutting down one of the large pine trees for wood, thereby making way for improvements to the playing area.
