UNEMPLOYMENT ALLOCATION.

(To the Editor.)

Sir,—-On reading your account of the North Taranaki unemployment committee’s meeting on Tuesday I was surprised at the remarks made by the chairman (Mr. J. Brown) regarding the deputation to Wellington. Regardless of Mr. Brown’s remarks, I maintain that the deputation was successful in its interview with the Minister of Employment. So much so, indeed, that the allocation to New Plymouth was increased from and including the week ending May 27. In conclusion, I would like to state that the continuous cuts received prior to the above-mentioned date add further strength to my contention.—l am, etc., JOHN P. WHELAN. Frankley Road, July 13.
