TRENTHAM RACES TO-DAY

GOOD FIELDS ENGAGED REVIEW OF THE RUNNERS. FORM SHOWN ON FIRST DAY. (By “Hurry On.”) Thurina won. so convincingly on Tuesday that he is sure to be well supported in the Mariri Steeples at the 'second day of the Wellington race meeting to-day. Tunbridge is sure to be improved by his outing. Solanio showed promising form at Ellerslie. As usual a smart field will contest the Trial Plate. Errantry, Hunting Lodge, Plaidie and Asterisca all have recent form, while Headmistress, Cyclonic, After Money and Passion Fruit are all promising sorts. Past records favour the chances of the two-year-olds, and Headmistress, Cyclonic and After Money may do well. The first day’s running points strongly to Swift and Colossical going well in the Seatoun Hack Handicap, but Drumfire may do better than he did on Tuesday. The field for the Corunna Hurdles is a "small one. Gold Knight and Paleta should be prominent at the finish. The Parliametary Handicap looks very open. Seatown was unlucky at the barrier on Tuesday and is likely to do better here. Cylinder was running on' strongly at the finish of the Whyte Handicap. Beacon Fire is at the top of his form but he is getting up in the weights. Retract won last year and should hold All Humbug safe, but Protomint should go well. He was finishing fast on Tuesday. Little Doubt, Copper King and Waterpower have' lightweights’ chances. In a good pool most support may come for Retract, Cylinder and Protomint. As March Alone stays on well he may come in for a lot of attention in the Highweight, but Emancipation and Membo will keep him busy. Curie won so impressively on Tuesday that despite his rise in weight he will take a lot of beating in the Members’ Handicap, but Merry Peel, Slippery and Glenvane. should all run prominently. Amyril and Pladie monopolise attention in the/ Petone Hack Handicap, bitt West Tor can muster up a lot of pace. The acceptances are:-—
