PLUNKET BALL SUCCESS

large number attends.

EFFECTIVE DECORATIONS.

The New Plymouth Agricultural Hall was fileld last night for the first annual ball of the Plunket Society. Over 400 dancers thronged the floor. The excellently arranged programme of dancing and the music were much. appreciated, and McNeill’s Orchestra had many calls made on it for encores. The entrance hall had been decorated with tree ferns and native trees, making an avenue up to the main door. The hall itself was brilliantly lighted and the many-coloured streamers from the roof canopy mingled very effectively with the frocks of the ladies, making a gay and attractive scene. . . The supper tables were artistically decorated with acacia and daffodils. Mrs. Eric Shaw and Mrs. Alex Strang were responsible for this part of the decoration. . , , - The general arrangements showed a thorough organisation on the part of the ladies. Mesdames F. White and E. Shaw, the convenors of the dance committee, spared no efforts to ensure the success of the ball. Mr. L. R. Curtis was master of ceremonies.
