Whangarei, Last Night.

The police this afternoon conducted a well-planned and simultaneous invasion of various premises in the business area of Whangarei, resulting in the arrest of eight persons, four of whom were charged before a Justice of the Peace with keeping common gaming houses, and the others with being found on such premises. The principaL were remanded on substantial bail, and the remainder on their own recognisances until tomorrow morning, when they will appear before the magistrate. The chief alleged offenders were Charles Schon, Arthur Lawrence Lambess, Arthur Clark and Sydney Raymond Stockley Bowyer.
