BRITISH BOXER ARRIVES

HIS OPINIONS OF AUSTRALIA.

FOREMAN’S SUDDEN DEPARTURE.

By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night.

Al Foreman, British lightweight professional boxer, accompanied by his brother Maurice, arrived from Australia to-day, having left Australia suddenly. Interviewed, he said: “For the sake of half a dozen people I like and respect over there I would rather not say anything bearing on my trip to Australia. Anything I could not say while in Australia I would prefer not to say here. It is of no use asking me what I think of Australia because I am a great friend of Larwood.” Maurice Foreman said it was surprising that a country which indulged so much in sport should know so little about sportsmanship. Al Foreman said his court case, which he won, cost him more than he earned in Australia, and he had to draw heavily on his Montreal account. He claimed he was the British Empire champion as the result of his final match with Kelso. Both brothers agreed that in Australia the boxing standard, was high. “I had seven fights in Australia,” Al remarked. “I won five and was robbed of the other two. I think I will. always remember Australia. Australia was the only continent I had not seen; now I have seen it.”
