FARMS CHANGING HANDS

THE WAIKATO DISTRICT. INQUIRIES FULLY MAINTAINED. Tlie inquiry for dairy farm and sheep lands in the Waikato continues to be fully maintained (states the Waikato Times), according to inquiries made. “Inquiries for dairy farm properties of from 80 to 100 acres continue to be strong,” said one prominent Hamilton land agent. “What is more, a reasonable amount of cash is offering. Several properties have changed hands, but the chief trouble is that prices asked are still too high. “As for sheep country, there has been more inquiry for it than at any time during the last two years. They are all for the better class of land, varying from 500 to 800 acres, and it is noticeable that rough, neglected .country is hard to dispose of. It is also to be noted that the type of land asked for as sheep country is really dairy land.

“I think that the rise in sheep prices is rather too sudden to be sustained, but I think at the same time they will remain on a better level.”

“I certainly agree that inquiries are being sustained,” stated the manager of anothei' prominent firm. “Cash for small properties, that is, up to 100 acres, is offering in sums from £6OO to £lOOO. “We have had a few nibbles for larger properties, but the big moneyed man is still rather “shy.” At the same _ time the big money is there, and with the return of just a little more confidence there will be a welcome movement in the big areas.

“The market is quite healthy, and the inquiries are wonderful,” concluded the manager.

These views were confirmed by several other agents.
