TE ROTI DISTRICT NEWS

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE PARTY. The third of a series of euchre and Hance parties conducted by the Women’s Institute was held in the Te Roti hall on Tuesday evening. There was a good attendance and a very enjoyable time was spent. The ladies’ prizes were won by Mrs. L. Bluett 1 and Mrs. W. Hoskin 2, after a re-play with Mrs. Herdman, the travelling prize by Mrs. Parrish and the consolation by Miss V. Grierson. The men’s prizes were won by Mr. W. Hoskin 1 and Mr. A.’ Hansen 2, and Mr. Nicholls the travelling prize and the consolation went to Master Howard Fowler. Music for the dance was supplied by Mrs. Bennet, assisted by Messrs. James Henson and Earl Schmidt. Monte Carlo waltzes were won by Mrs. and Miss Hitchcock and Mrs. Stokes and Miss I. Reid.

Mi - , and Mrs. Hills have returned from a holiday spent at Palmerston North. Mr. and Mrs. Chisnail and family have left the district and have made their home at Mokoia.

Mr. Ray Bloor left by car on Wednesday morning to spend a holiday in the Waikato district.

The Ngaere schoolboys’ Rugby football team paid a visit to Te Roti recently and was defeated by the local school team by 23 points to 3. In a return match at Ngaere on Thursday the Te Roti boys were again successful, winning by six points to three. The boys were entertained at afternoon tea by the teachers of their respective schools.
