SPORTS GATHERINGThe special train which left Niho. Niho last Saturday for Heap had 100 passengers. The senior and third grade football teams and the senior basketball team played at Heao while the junior football team played Tokirima at Tokirima. In senior football Heao 9 defeated Niho Niho 6. A misunderstanding arose over the call of time, It appeared that time was called when the ball was out but the referee ruled that the ball must come into play. It was after time had been called that Heao scored, the deciding try. The junior game resulted Tokirima 18, Niho Niho 3. The Niho Niho third grade had a popular win over Tokirima-Heao with the score B—6. The senior basketball girls had their first win, the final score being 5—3. The following represented Niho Niho: Misses M. Weinberg, P. Dougherty, E. Weinberg,M. Ryan, N. Christensen, R. Field, K. Goldfinch, M. Beaton, Mrs. W. M. Landy (capt). - Afternoon tea was served m the schoolroom after all the matchesAnother round will be commenced next Saturday for the football banners. The draw sends Heao seniors, Tokirima-jun-iors, Tokirima third grade and the school team to Niho Niho. This and the next round in the senior grade will _also count for the shield presented by Mr. J. Kaim, Ohura. The senior basketball girls will play Heao again at Niho Niho. New School House. The school house arrived at Niho Niho on Tuesday morning in sections, the work of erection being commenced immediately. It should prove very comfortable. The school committee intends taking more soil off the knoll in the near future to fill up the blind creek at the foot of the rise. Residents’ Co-operation. Mr. Nelley’s home was taken doyzn during the week-end by a band of willing helpers and loaded on trucks ready to be trained to Whangarei. Mr- T. Nelley intends Tnaking his home about 10 miles from Whangarei on a section secured by him in a ballot. Mr. Nelley has a large family and it' seems that the attendance at the Turoto school which the children attended, will suffer to such an extent as to put the school down a grade. . k t Travelling expenses for the school teams is a big item fot parents these days so in order to gain fundk for the purpose the school children are giving a concert to-night, followed by a dance-
