Considerable interest was displayed at the first dairy sale of the season, whibh Wright, . Stephenson and Co. Ltd. held yesterday' when they offered a herd of cows on behalf of the trustees of the estate of the late Mr. A. Johnson. There was a large attendance of dairymen from all parts of the Wairarapa. Bidding was.keen, showing that, in spite of the butter-fat prices ruling to-day, there is still a good demand for cattle likely to improve the producing capacity of herds, and prices yesterday, were most satisfactory. The top price of the sale was £l3 ss, and several sold at £lO or more. The herd averaged the highly satisfactory price of £8 13s. Two-year heifers realised £7 ss, £6 10s and £6, while yearling heifers brought £3 15s.
