AGA KHAN’S DISAPPOINTMENTS. SECONDS IN IMPORTANT RACES. (From Our Own Correspondent.) London, May 12. The Aga Khan has achieved many triumphs, but he has also had many disappointments. Indeed, the number of seconds with which he has had 'to be content in important races is re-
markable. It was thought that he possessed a great chance of capturing the Jubilee Handicap with either of last season’s classic horses, Dastur or Firdaussi. Both were sent to Kempton Park, but it was decided to rely solely on Firdaussi, the St. Leger winner, and he was seized upon by the public as a “good thing,” being backed down to 5—2.’ But it was not a lucky race for the favourite. He was standing sideways when the gate was released, and he lost a great deal of ground at the start. In the circumstances, he had to be pushed to get up with the leaders in order that he might be in a fair position before making the turn into the straight. This effort, I am afraid, took too much out of the horse. Firdaussi
ran. on strongly into second place, but his big weight checked him, ana he was beaten by Colorado Kid by two lengths. Colorado Kid ran third in the W and Suburban at Epsom when ridden ny Gordon Richards. The jockey was so impressed by the way the horse, that he asked to be allowed to nde him in the Jubilee.
