BOWLERS’ HARVEST OF WICKETS. RAIN INTERFERES WITH PLAY. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, June 20. Rain interfered with county cricket matches and bowlers reaped a harvest of wickets. The results are:— Surrey beat Essex: Surrey in the first innings made 268 (Hobbs 85). Essex in the first innings made 66 (Gower six wickets for 17) and followed on, making 102 (Fender eight for 29). Surrey won by an innings and 100 runs. Northamptonshire beat Somerset: Somerset in the first innings made 141 (Jupp six wickets for 69) and in the second 167 (Jupp four wickets for 42). Northants in the first innings made 246 (Wellard four wickets for 35) and in the second lost two wickets for 63. Northants won by eight wickets. Kent drew with Warwick: Kent in the first innings lost six wickets for 403 and declared (Valentine 164). Warwick in the first innings lost two wickets for 63. The match was drawn. Worcester beat Leicester: Leicester in the first innings made 271 (Astill 89) and in the second 71 (Perks took five wickets for 28, Perry five for 42). Worcester in the first innings made 175 (Astill four for 38) and in the second lost eight wickets for 169 (Smith too.k seven wickets for 58). Worcester won by two wickets. Yorkshire beat Gloucester: Yorkshire in the first innings made 227 and in the second 153 (Goddard took eight wickets for 77). Gloucester in the first innings made 144 (Verity took six wickets for 55) and in the second 135 (Bowes took eight wickets for 69). Yorkshire won by 101 runs. Lancashire beat Glamorgan: Glamorgan in the first, innings made 133 and in the second lost none for 21. Lancashire in the first .innings lost three for 159 and declared. Derbyshire in the first innings made 88 (A. Staples took seven wickets for 20) and followed on, making 199 (A. Staples took four wickets for 19). Notts won by an . innings and 121 runs. Hampshire beat Middlesex: Hampshire in the first innings made 395 (Creese 165 not out). Middlesex in the first innings made 78 (Boyes took six wickets for 24) and followed on, making: 193 (Herman took five wickets for 91). Hampshire won by an innings and 119 runs. Cambridge drew with Sussex: Cambridge in the first innings made 330 (A. Allen 144). Sussex in the first innings made 119 (Fames took five wickets for 56) and followed on, losing five wickets for 151. The match was drawn. West Tridies, in the first innings against Minor Counties, made 229 (Edwards eight for 98). Minor Counties, which made 243 in the first innings,. in the second lost five for 190 and declared (Butler 50). West Indies lost four for 64 in the second innings. The match was drawn.
