INTENDED MARRIAGE
FAMILY ESTRANGEMENT. COMMONER HIS FIANCEE. London, June 7. Ex-King Alfonso of Spain is so firmly opposed to the marriage of the Prince of the Asturias, his eldest son, to Senorita Edclmira San Pedro Ocjez, a Cuban brunette, that he recently reduced the allowance of the Prince, says the Paris correspondent of the Daily Mail. In addition Alfonso warned the Prince that such a marriage would not be recognised by anybody in the Spanish Royal Family, and the the Prince’s wife would not be received in Spanish Court circles. Both ex-King Alfonso and ex-Queen Ena, it is stated, view the posting of the banns of the marriage in Lausanne Town Hall as an act that severs the Prince from the rest of the family. The ex-Queen also has intimated that under no circumstances will she or any other member of the Spanish Royal Family be present at the wedding.
