A USEFUL TOOL HOLDER. Here is a holder in which you can keep, your tools so that they are ready to hand when wanted. The bottom part is in the form of an open box in which can be kept your small plane, tenon saw, and hammer, while the little compartments are for nails and screws. The rack at the top is for other tools such as chisels, bradawls and screwdrivers. Cut the back of the holder from wood three-eighths of an inch thick, and plane it on both sides. Cut off the top corners neatly with your tenon saw as indi-

cated in diagram A; then, with a centrebit, make the hole on the centre-line near the top. . • From a piece of wood three-eighths of an inch thick, cut two side pieces to the sizes given in diagram B. The front beards C and D are strips of quar-ter-inch wood ten inches long, one being one inch -wide and the other an inch and a . half. Fix each side? piece B to the back with three screws about one inch long, and the front strips by two screws in each end. The bottom part E is made of three-eighths-inch wood, and measures nine and a quarter. inches long by four- inches wide. This must be screwed to the back, front and sides. . . From a strip of quarter-inch wood One inch wide, cut three pieces to fit between the back board and strip D, and nail them.-in position with fine brads. The strip,’ F, cut from quarter-inch wood, can then be glued in place. For the top rack, saw three little blocks of wood to the. sizes given at G, and .fix them to the. back board with two screws in each.. The position of these blocks is indicated at H,H. Then screw a strip of quarter-inch wood to the blocks to complete the rack. When finished, give the holder a coating of light oak varhish stain. The Hut Carpenter.
