CATHOLIC BALL SUCCESS

PUNGAREHU HALL CROWDED. The Catholic ball at Pungarehu is always one of the leading social functions on the coast, and last night’s fixture was right up to the standard of its predecessors. Despite the unfavourable weather the spacious hall was packed, including visitors from as far as New Plymouth, Opunake and Stratford. The main hall was decorated with hanging streamers and’ the supper tables were tastefully laid out in royal blue and gold. A splen-. did supper had been prepared by the ladies’ committee. Excellent music was provided by Vinsen’s Ambassadors, and Mr. R. B. Fleming was a capable master of ceremonies. The committee responsible comprised Mesdames P. Brophy, S. Renton, F. Deacon, P. Brennan, Patterson, Misses B. Fleming, M. Doyle, M. Brophy, C. Brophy, M. Newport, J. Newport, E. Doody, N. Doody, N. Fleming, M. Jones and J. Cockrane and Messrs. T. Brophy, R; B. Fleming, S. Renton and T. Doyle.
