POINT-TO-POINT MEETING
TARANAKI HUNT CLUB EVENT. For many years the point-to-point meeting has been the event of the. year with the members of the Taranaki Hunt Club, some thrilling contests have been witnessed. Usually the gathering is held in the country, mostly in the Waihi district, and it has always attracted a large attendance. This year, however, the club has introduced an innovation, which should prove popular, by holding the gathering at the New Plymouth race-' course, where townspeople will have an opportunity of viewing in comfort the exhiliarating. sport.
A good programme has been arranged, comprising 4ight events, three of which are steeplechases—the second class hunters, first class hunters and ladies. Very satisfactory entries have been received. Arrangements have been made by the committee, and the organisation has been greatly assisted by the fact that the Taranaki Jockey Club has placed all its appointments at the club’s disposal. The first event will start at 12.45 p.m.
