BITTER ELECTION CONTEST

LANG FIGHTS FOR EXISTENCE. MR. WILLIS EXPECTED TO WIN. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Sydney, May 27. The Biflli by-election campaign has become extremely bitter. Mr. A. 'C. Willis, the former New South Wales Agent-General and now the miners’ candidate in a typical coal-mining constituency, having come into conflict with the Lang forces, is hailed by Mr. Lang as “a top-hatted gentleman fresh from the halls of Westminster.” . The Press is unanimous in saying that sooner than expected Mr. Lang is making the Bulli campaign a fight for his own political existence. He will spend the'best part of next week in the electorate on behalf of Mr. John Sweeney, the candidate selected to carry the inner Labour group’s banner. It is announced that Mr. Willis commands the entire following of the Miners’ Federation and is regarded as certain to win the seat.
