BRITISH CONVERSION LOAN
LARGE SUMS APPLIED FOR. British Wireless. Rugby, May 26. The sum of £74,540,0.00 was applied for when tenders for the 21 per cent, conversion loan 1944-49 and Treasury bills were opened. In the conversion loan £7,719,000 was allotted, applicants at £92 receiving 26 per cent, of their requirements and above that the full amount. In bills for three months £42,180,000 was allotted, tenderers at £BB 18s 4d receiving 63 per cent, and above that the full amount. Treasury bills sold to-day at 6/4.27 per cent., the lowest discount rate ever recorded.
