RUGBY UNION GAMES
THE PROSPECTS DISCUSSED. INTEREST IN STAR V. STRATFORD. i With the first round receiving its close interest is increasing in both the northern and southern division Rugby competitions. In the northern division the old rivals, Star and Stratford, will meet at Pukekura Park, and as neither has so far been defeated a great game should be witnessed. Clifton and Old Boys will provide an interesting contest at Waitara, as will also Celtic and Inglewood at Stratford. >. In South Taranaki the teams are so even that anything might happen. The meeting of the leaders, Patea with Hawera, at Patea, is fraught with great interest, especially in view of . Hawera’s defeat of Opunake. Waimate, the run-ners-up, meet Old Boys at. Hawera, and after last week’s defeat will take no chances. Kaponga and Opunake are still in the picture, and as they always provide a stirring contest the game at Kaponga should be worth watching.
