SAVED. Brown arrived at his office one morning beaming with satisfaction. “Hallo,” said his partner, "“what’s happened to please you ?”■ “A man held me up this morning,” explained Brown, “and tried to pick my pockets, but my wife saved me.” “Great 1” exclaimed his partner. “What did she do, grapple with him or scream ?” “Neither,” replied Brown, “she wasn’t there.” “Then how did she do it ?” asked the other, puzzled. “She had been through my pockets first,” came the reply.
