A FIRESIDE COMPETITION. O — FOUR CHUMS, RICHARD THE PUPPY, POLLY THE PARROT, GWENDOLINE THE CAT, AND TED THE TEDDY BEAR, HAVE THOUGHT OUT A FINE SCHEME FOR A COMPETITION. - IT IS A TREASURE HUNT. Richard has hidden sixpence, and has worked out two like the pirates used to do—that will lead to the treasure. Gwen, Ted and Polly each have a chance to solve the problems and win the sixpence. ' ■ X' The following instructions will help you:— 1. Polly, Gwendoline and Ted appealed to Richard the Pup .......... io -think- ci- a competition. ......... 2. “Right!” he said, “I’ve an idea. I will hide sixpence and give you clues to where it is hidden. 3.. Richard hid the sixpence and produced the first clue. v lt is on this sheet,” he said. 4. Polly, Gwendoline and Ted soon solved the first clue. You see it was on the back of the sheet of paper, an now they have found the principal clue. (This is the clue for you to solve.) 5. The chums have placed the clue against a tree, and are trying desperately to solve it. . ’ 8. They have succeeded! Have you? This is a competition which you can try to solve among yourselves.
