RESULTS OF SATURDAY’S PLAY. RAURU DEFEATS WAITOTARA. The second Saturday’s games in the Wairoa Rugby Sub-Union’s Cup competition were played on Saturday, when Ngutuwera defeated Up-River by six points to three, Waverley defeated Kai Iwi by 15 points to three, and Ruru defeated Waitotara by 13 points to six. The game between Rauru and Waitotara was a very keenly fought contest, the Maori backs proving vastly superior. Their handling of the ball was a treat to watch. The first spell ended with the scores three all, and everybody thought that the second spell would be a runaway victory for Rauru, but the Waitotara forwards, working like Trojans; had the Maori boys going all out, and the issue was in doubt until the final whistle. Mr. W. Fitzgibbon handled the game admirably. Outstanding players for Waitotara were the McConachy Bros., W. Dobie and W. Zimmerman, while for Rauru they all played so well together that it was hard to individualise the players. Next Saturday’s games are: Waverley v. Rauru, at Waverley (referee, Mr. P.
